Week 04 - Coming Together
Sharing what's new:
This week's phase has all been about bringing the main concept of the gameplay and art together! Nailing down the core elements of the game, testing out some extra mechanics, figuring out the rythm and tying it together with the art vision. We further explored how a finished level might look like.
MECHANICS
Our devs have introduced some new elements in the prototype. Right now we have extra sticky jam zones to slow down the player and air zones for hovering grandmas along with pickups, throwables.

ART
We are still trying to find the formula to achieve a storybook, picturesque feel for our puppet grandmas. Currently we are nailing down the basics of lighting and camera; having the characters and the platforms as readable as possible is our first priority here. Since we have a racing game where everything is fast, things need to be clear and intuitive. Experimenting with megascans and compositions to get the mood right while not sacrificing the gameplay is crucial at this step.
We also have started testing our 3D workflow for props and platform assets:
