Week 05 - Shaping Up Our Vision
Hello again, everyone!
We’re excited to share an update on our game development progress!
We've decided to position the camera on a spline that gradually rises, creating a sense of progression and improving visibility across our dynamic surroundings. This change not only results in better transitions, but it also dramatically improves player interaction with our increasingly diverse platforms. Furthermore, we've fine-tuned the camera speed to match the tempo of gameplay, ensuring that players always feel in control and not frustrated.

Level Blockout and Environment Integration
These past few weeks, we've made progress on creating the first blockouts for our three separate rooms. Each one will have its own look, music, and gameplay style:
- Cafeteria: Where our grandmas used to enjoy their breakfast pie and cup of tea: players will traverse through tables, plates, overstuffed bouffes and jam spills.
- Living Room: Who's in for a bingo night? Next room is the living room where grandmas race through bingo cards, couches and tv's.
- Waiting Room: Last room is the waiting room; where grandmas await for the turn of their fate before the big light.
Currently, we've fully completed the blockout for one room, which now serves as a benchmark for the following areas. Coming up with ideas for the platforms and intergrating them into the environment was sort of a challenge. Keeping scale in mind, retaining that toy scale feel and also logically tying all things together will take some time but we're very close!
That said, we are no longer tightly separating the environment and platforms. Instead, we have decided to make them work better together. Now, background elements flow more smoothly into interactive platform parts, making the player experience fuller and more immersive. Our spline-based camera movement and the different heights in each room make for a natural but exciting flow of games.

Technical Improvements
We're playing around with the lighting direction to make our new integrated method stand out even more. We want to make it easier for players to see important parts of the game by flipping the main lights. This will help them find their way around the game more naturally.
