Week 07 - Pit stop finished
Don't zone out!
We now have implemented zones to spice up the gameplay! There are areas which will slow you down or speed you up. These are visualized with spilled jam on the floor or a fan that really puts the wind in your back if you're falling behind in the race.
The pickup boxes are now more visible as a gift! Only those with special gifts can boost themselves or hold other players back.
There's no U without I
As the title says, we have an updated UI so you can more clearly see what type of character you're playing as.
Each with their own unique look as was shown in our artbible. These grandma's have their own colour for extra readability when you play.
When you choose your character it will also have the scrabble font switched out when you're ready to play!
With that said underneath your grandma you can also find out what item you got from the gift box you picked up.
No debug needed
Previously, items were only shown as text when picked up. But now, thanks to our awesome artists, we’ve upgraded the UI with vibrant item icons and logos! Players can now clearly see which item they've grabbed in a much more stylish and intuitive way.
Menus have also received some love, buttons are now fully compatible with our intended controller layout, making navigation smoother and more responsive.
But that’s not all.
We realized that getting eliminated early made the game feel too short and frustrating, especially for players who struggled at the start. So, we’ve introduced a Revenge mechanic! Now, when you die, you return as a ghost, ready to take revenge on your friends from beyond the grave. It’s a second chance at glory and a fun twist that keeps everyone engaged until the finish line!
Who doesn't like a bit crazy
We’ve been diving deep into sound design, and it’s paying off! A lot more detail has been added to audio cues throughout the game. Whether you're picking up items, using them, or hilariously stepping into a cream pie, everything now sounds more dynamic and alive.
We’ve also introduced new map elements like jam splats and jump pads, each with their own fun, wacky sounds that make every interaction more satisfying (and sometimes ridiculous in the best way).
All these additions are making the gameplay feel way more immersive and chaotic in the most delightful way. And this is just the beginning—expect even more juicy audio goodness in future updates!
