Week 10 - A Production-Ready Race
ART
With the end in sight we pushed our pedal to the metal! The library now has textured assets and a trophy that awaits for the victor.
We also made the gift boxes more readable as they should be, wrapped with love. The coffee room has now some extra elements added to it such as small board game pawns to add that extra flair. The rfx are now implemented on the pickups with a toon-like rhythm.
The grannies now have their iconic colours attached to them with their unique features!
Now you get to fully play the one you prefer to drift with!
As we incorporated a small video tutorial section to help the player understand the core mechanics of the game better.
🛠 Final Production Push: Character Identity & Player Feedback
In our final week of production, the dev team went full throttle and implemented a wide range of gameplay improvements and logic updates. One of the biggest additions is the introduction of distinct, playable grandma characters each with her own unique name and identity. We also added item indicators above players’ heads and in their scooter baskets to improve clarity during gameplay.
A major focus this week was enhancing player feedback, which had been a notable issue. We tackled this by refining visual cues and control responsiveness.
Another big change: the infamous death wall has evolved into a more dynamic death ball. With this shift, we updated the elimination logic, now players are dramatically crushed by the ball and enter Revenge Mode. We’ve also made it easier to control your character and revive yourself while in this state, making revenge a more viable and satisfying option.
SOUND
This week we brought the tutorial section to life with custom sound design! Each grandma now has her own unique voice line that plays when selected, instantly giving them personality. We also added victory voice lines for when they win races - each character celebrates in their own special way.
We implemented an epic announcer voice for pickups that clearly states what item has been collected, making the game much more readable during intense racing moments. The announcer features sidechain compression to ensure it cuts through the mix perfectly without overwhelming other sounds.
